KCB RFC Head Coach Andrew Amonde has said his team has now shifted its focus to the last leg of the National Sevens Circuit after finishing 5th at the just concluded Tisap 7s in Eldoret.

The bankers lost 5-10 to Menengai Oilers in the main cup quarterfinal in the opening match of the day. They hammered Kisumu RFC 29-7 to set up a date with their nemesis Kabras Sugar in the fifth-place playoff and defeated them 21-14.

Despite finishing fifth, KCB maintains its second position in the log standings garnering 91 points after 5 legs played so far with Kabeberi 7s the only edition left to play in the 2023 National Sevens Circuit.

“The boys expressed themselves well unfortunately they did not make it to the finals, but it is good they made it to another. We now shift our attention to the Kabeberi 7s next weekend, hopefully we will clinch the overall circuit winner’s title. We intend to go back to Nairobi and prepare for the last leg of the series which will ultimately portray our hard work throughout the competition.” Said Head Coach Amonde.

KCB missed the services of Captain Vincent Onyala, Elvis Olukusi, Festus Shiasi and Samuel Asati who have been called to the national team for the upcoming competitions.

“The caliber of players we missed today shows a lot of how we played but it is also an opportunity for the young players to get an opportunity to represent the badge. Some of them have never had a platform to play for us and through this leg, they have so it is about giving everyone an opportunity for their growth. I urge our supporters to keep pushing us and rallying behind this team,” added Amonde.

The last leg of the National Sevens Circuit, Kabeberi 7s will be played next weekend in Nairobi.
