Kakamega Homeboyz FC pitted against Al Hilal of Libya in CAF Confederation Cup Debut
The CAF Confederation Cup draw took place Tuesday afternoon and has placed Kenya's Kakamega Homeboyz FC against Al Hilal of Libya in the first round of the coveted tournament.
Kakamega Homeboyz FC will play the first leg of the fixture at their home ground, giving them a chance to establish an advantage before travelling to Libya for the return leg.
The highly anticipated clash is scheduled to take place between August 18 and 20 for the first leg; and between August 25 and 27 for the return leg.
Kakamega secured their place in the tournament by winning the FKF Cup last month after they got past Tusker FC winning 1-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
The first timers will be the sole representative of Kenya in the CAF Confederation Cup, as Gor Mahia FC, was regrettably disqualified after failing the club licensing rules for failure to pay to former players.
The winner of this first-round fixture will move on to face Rayon Sports of Rwanda in the second preliminary round.
This is without a doubt an extraordinary moment for the players, staff, and fans of Homeboyz FC as the opportunity to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup presents a significant milestone in the club's history.
