Kahawa Court Issues Arrest Warrants For FBI-Linked Activists

Arrest warrants have been issued against three activists associated with the Fighting Brutality and Impunity movement after they failed to appear before the Kahawa Law Courts. The orders were granted on Wednesday by Senior Principal Magistrate Gideon Kiage following their absence during a scheduled court mention.

Those named in the warrants are Patrick Osoi, Hiram Kimathi, and Jackson Kuria Kihara, widely known as Cop Shakur. The trio has been linked to the controversial Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI) movement, a group that has publicly campaigned against alleged police misconduct and state impunity.

Court records indicate that the matter before the court was set for mention to confirm compliance and fix further hearing dates. However, none of the three accused persons appeared physically or virtually when the case was called out. The prosecution subsequently sought the issuance of arrest warrants to compel their attendance.

Magistrate Kiage allowed the application, directing law enforcement officers to apprehend the three and present them before the court. The ruling means the warrants remain active until the accused are brought before the judicial officer or the orders are otherwise lifted.

The charges facing the activists stem from investigations into the formation and activities of the FBI movement. Prosecutors have previously indicated that the case touches on allegations related to unlawful activities and concerns about public order. The accused have denied any wrongdoing.

The trio had earlier been arraigned and released on cash bail pending further proceedings. The latest development now places them at risk of arrest should they fail to present themselves voluntarily before the court.

Security agencies are expected to execute the warrants as directed, with the matter set to return to court on a later date once the accused are produced. The case continues to draw public attention due to the activists’ visibility in recent civic campaigns.
