Joho Endorses Abdulswamad Nassir for Mombasa Bid
Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has endorsed Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir’s bid to succeed him as the Coastal County boss next year.
Speaking during the county’s Annual Governor’s Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the Treasury Square over the weekend, Joho reiterated that he is not running for any seat in Mombasa and endorsed Nassir as the next governor.
Nassir took the stage to thank Joho, extending an early invitation to the county boss at next year’s edition of the ceremony.
Joho and Nassir’s statements come amidst their party chief Raila Odinga’s tour of the county as he popularizes his 2022 presidential bid.
Joho on the other hand praised the ODM leader as the perfect fit for president and urged him to review the operations at the Mombasa port as well as streamline land grievances and youth unemployment once he ascends into power next year.
Nassir added on Joho’s sentiments praising Odinga as a key support figure to Joho, urging him to support him as well once he clinches the presidency.
The two were accompanying Odinga in his campaigns alongside Mombasa Senator Mohamed Faki Jomvu MP Mbadi Twalib and his Likoni counterpart Mishi Mboko. Nassir will be facing businessman Suleiman Shahbal, who is also an ODM member, in the quest for Mombasa’s top seat.
