Police in Machakos County have launched investigations after a disturbing discovery in Wandathe village, where three bodies were recovered, including what is reported to be a child’s leg.
According to the local police command, led by area OCPD George Kashmir, officers were alerted by residents who raised concerns over a foul smell and suspicious remains in the area before a coordinated search was carried out.
Security teams from the nearby station and scenes-of-crime units were deployed to the location, where they confirmed the recovery of multiple human remains scattered in different spots within the village. The remains were carefully collected and transported to the mortuary for forensic examination and identification.
Authorities say one of the recovered items was a child’s limb, raising concern that more victims could be involved or that the bodies may have been dismembered. The exact circumstances of the deaths have not yet been established.
Police have cordoned off the area as detectives begin reconstructing events leading up to the incident. Preliminary findings suggest no immediate identification of the deceased, and investigators are awaiting post-mortem and DNA analysis results.
Residents in the surrounding area have been urged to provide any information that may assist in identifying the victims or tracing those responsible. Security patrols have also been intensified following the discovery.
Investigators are treating the case as a suspected multiple homicide, though officials caution that the motive and timeline remain unclear at this stage.
Forensic experts are expected to return to the scene for further sweeps in case additional remains are still present in the vicinity.
The bodies remain at the county mortuary pending autopsy, identification, and full forensic profiling as the probe continues.
