Eight people have been confirmed dead following a tragic road crash along the Narok–Mai Mahiu highway at the Nairegia area in Narok East Sub-county.

Police say the accident involved a truck and a private Toyota Voxy that collided head-on in what has been described as a high-impact crash.

According to Narok County Police Commander Patrick Lobolia, preliminary investigations indicate the truck lost control before veering into the lane of the oncoming vehicle.

The Toyota Voxy was carrying seven occupants at the time of the crash, and all of them died instantly due to the severity of the impact.

The victims included three men and four women, with authorities confirming that none survived the collision.

The truck driver survived the crash but sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Narok Teaching and Referral Hospital for emergency treatment.

Police officers who arrived at the scene confirmed that the wreckage was severe, with both vehicles extensively damaged and debris scattered across the roadway.

The bodies of the deceased were transported to Narok County Hospital mortuary, where they are awaiting identification and postmortem examinations.

The Narok–Mai Mahiu highway section where the crash occurred has previously been flagged as a dangerous stretch, often associated with fatal crashes involving heavy commercial vehicles.

Authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the accident, including possible mechanical failure and road conditions, as traffic safety concerns on the route continue to grow.
