Gov't Warns Hospitals Against Charging for Free Taifa Care Services

The government has stated that all outpatient services in public health facilities are to be offered freely under the government's Taifa Care initiative.
Speaking at a women's empowerment rally in Homa Bay, President William Ruto said that any hospital found to be extorting money from civilians would face immediate penalties.
According to the Head of State, outpatient treatments at dispensaries, health centers, and sub-county hospitals are now fully covered for Kenyans enrolled in the Social Health Authority (SHA).
“Wewe mwananchi, kazi yako ni kujiandikisha tu kwa SHA… utatibiwa, upewe dawa, na usilipe pesa yeyote,” the President affirmed.
The President expressed concern that some health workers and institutions continue to unlawfully demand money.
President Ruto reiterated his government’s commitment to delivering universal health coverage through Taifa Care, positioning it as a cornerstone of his administration’s social protection agenda.
Taifa Care provides patients with free consultations, therapy, and medication.
