Gov't Releases January Stipend For Inua Jamii Beneficiaries
The government has released Sh2.08 billion to pay January's Inua Jamii stipends, starting February 7th, 2023. This includes an additional Sh5.9 million for the Nutrition Improvement through Cash and Health Education (NICHE) program.
“Following a presidential directive, Inua Jamii beneficiaries will receive stipends through Mpesa. This will start with orphans and vulnerable children and persons with severe disabilities caregivers,” the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizens Affairs Joseph Motari said.
According to PS Motari, beneficiaries can now receive their stipends through Mpesa, this convenient and accessible option eliminates the need for long and potentially difficult trips to bank branches.
The PS revealed that over 207,000 beneficiaries have enrolled through *222# and received their December payments through Mpesa.
PS Motari said at least 100,000 beneficiaries who have not enrolled through *222#, will be paid through the bank account for the last time and they have only this month to enroll to Mpesa payment.
