George Luchiri Wajackoya
Meet George Luchiri Wajackoyah, Roots party presidential candidate, an aspirant who has spiced up 2022 elections with marijuana and snake venom, he was born on 24 October 1959 (age 63 as of 2022) at St Mary’s Hospital in Jinja, Uganda.
He has his roots in both Uganda through his mother and his Kenyan through his father.
George Wajackoyah grew up in Indangalasia village in West Wanga, Mumias, Kakamega County, Kenya. George is married to an African - American woman and they both have a child.
When George had completed his O’levels (primary school), he went to the streets at the age of 16 and like other street kids there, he learned to trade.
Luckily, Hare Krishna rescued George and provided shelter for him and other street children.
The international society for Krishna Consciousness known as the Hare Krishna movement or Hare Krishnas is a Gaudiya Vaishnava religious organization is a religious organization whose devotees typically wear saffron robes, favor celibacy, practice vegetarianism, and chant mantras based on the name of the Hindu god Krishan.
He had to convert to Hare Krishna and become one of its members. One of the followers offered him a chance to pursue his secondary education therefore he joined St. Peter Mumias Boys High School and completed his A’levels in 1980.
After high school, he joined the Kenya Police Training College, Kiganjo, to study Policing and Criminal Investigation.
In 1990, the Police Service placed him in charge of collecting intelligence on the death of the late Foreign Affairs Minister Robert Ouko. Unfortunately, things turned sour for Wajackoyah when his curiosity about the investigations led to his arrest, forceful detention, and severe torture, almost losing his eyesight.
Luckily, some Americans planned for his release, but George did not feel safe in the country anymore and opted to flee, eventually settling in the United Kingdom.
In the UK, Wajackoyah decided to join the school of Law where he resorted to digging graves and working as a night security guard to raise his tuition money.
While still in the UK, he joined local universities and earned a dozen law degrees at the Universities of Wolverhampton, London (SOAS), Warwick, and Westminster & UOL Birkbeck.
He has also studied French, Security and Intelligence, Economics, Philosophy, and African Studies. Later in 2006, the professor graduated with a master of law (us law) from the University of Baltimore.
He then began practicing law in the UK and opened a firm that dealt with immigration. Wajackoyah settled in the United Kingdom for two decades, working as a lawyer before relocating to the United States.
He continued his studies in the USA and enrolled in an LLM program at the University of Baltimore. However, he also worked in the USA as an educationist and an adjunct law professor at the American Heritage University of Southern California.
As of 2022, Wajackoyah is a Faculty Member at the Institute of Migration at the University of Nairobi and is a law lecturer teaching International Law at the United States International University – Africa.
In June 2022, Kenya’s electoral body (IEBC) cleared the lawyer to run for Kenya’s presidency under his founded political party, Roots Party. Before, he announced his intentions to run for the presidency in 2012 but withdrew from the race without explanation.
