The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has requested the detention of three individuals for 21 days in connection with violent clashes in Angata Barikoi, Narok County. The suspects are alleged to have links to killings, arson, and malicious damage to property during the recent flare-ups in the area.

The clashes, which erupted due to longstanding land disputes between local communities, have left several people dead and dozens of homes destroyed. Authorities say hundreds of residents were displaced, and the unrest has drawn national attention due to its intensity and the scale of the destruction.

Police reports indicate that the suspects are believed to have played key roles in organising attacks and coordinating the destruction of property. The DCI has said the extended detention is necessary to allow detectives to complete forensic and intelligence investigations related to the incidents.

Security operations in the region have been intensified, with officers actively pursuing other individuals suspected of involvement in the violence. The government has deployed additional personnel to restore order and prevent further escalation.

Local leaders and elders have called for calm and urged residents to avoid retaliation. They stressed the need for dialogue and mediation to address the root causes of the disputes, while authorities continue investigations and work to ensure that peace is restored in the affected areas.
