Como have reached an agreement with Real Madrid to sign Nico Paz on a permanent deal
Como have agreed a deal to sign Argentina international midfielder Nico Paz from Real Madrid in a transfer worth approximately £51.8 million (€60 million), according to reports.
The 21-year-old playmaker is set to return to the Italian club following a rapid rise in Serie A, where he has been a key creative figure since joining Como from Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are understood to have triggered a buy-back clause before immediately sanctioning the permanent sale, allowing the Spanish club to secure a significant financial return while maintaining structured contractual control over the player’s future.
The deal is reported to include a future buy-back option for Real Madrid, potentially valued at around €80 million, ensuring the La Liga giants retain leverage should Paz continue his development at an elite level.
Paz initially left Madrid in a structured transfer arrangement designed to preserve long-term interest in his progress while granting him regular first-team football away from the Santiago Bernabéu.
His performances in Italy have drawn widespread attention, with the attacking midfielder contributing goals, assists and consistent creative output that elevated Como’s competitiveness in Serie A.
Under the guidance of Cesc Fàbregas, Paz has operated as a central playmaker, frequently dictating attacking transitions and set-piece delivery, becoming one of the club’s most influential young players.
At Real Madrid, opportunities in his preferred role have been limited due to intense competition in midfield and attacking positions, prompting his initial departure in search of regular minutes.
The transfer structure reflects Real Madrid’s modern recruitment strategy, which increasingly involves buy-back clauses and sell-on mechanisms for academy-developed talents.
Como are expected to finalise the transfer in the coming days once contractual and regulatory formalities are completed, ahead of the new season preparations.
