Crystal Palace won the 2025 Community Shield against Liverpool 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regular time.
Goals in normal time came from H. Ekitiké (4’) and J. Frimpong (21’) for Liverpool, while J. Mateta (17’, pen) and I. Sarr (77’) scored for Palace.
In the penalty shootout, Palace converted through Mateta, Sarr, and Devenny, while Eze had a shot saved and Sosa missed. Liverpool scored via Gakpo and Szoboszlai, but Salah missed, Mac Allister’s effort was saved, and Elliott’s penalty was also stopped.
It’s a huge result for Palace, lifting the trophy by holding their nerve in the shootout despite Liverpool’s early dominance.
