Brazil captured the 2025 South American Amputee Football Championship title after defeating Uruguay 2–1 in a gripping final played at the iconic Arena Mercado Livre Pacaembu Stadium in São Paulo.

The tournament, held from August 26 to 30, brought together eight national teams—Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.

Organized by the Brazilian Amputee Football Confederation (CBFA) with support from the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) and the FIFA Foundation, the event doubled as the official qualifier for the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Costa Rica.

From the outset, Brazil showed tactical strength and resilience. They topped their group, narrowly beating Uruguay in an earlier clash before meeting them again in the final.
The championship match lived up to expectations, with both teams battling fiercely. After a tight first half, Brazil surged ahead with decisive second-half goals. Uruguay pulled one back late in the game, but the hosts held firm to secure the 2–1 victory.

Beyond lifting the trophy, Brazil’s triumph underlined their dominance in the region and secured them a spot at next year’s Amputee Football World Cup. For the players, the win symbolized resilience, inclusivity, and the growing recognition of adaptive sports on the global stage.

The championship was more than just football—it was a cultural celebration. Fans at the CERET Sports and Recreation Center and Pacaembu witnessed not only competitive matches but also showcases of determination, teamwork, and national pride.

Live broadcasts across multiple platforms amplified visibility, inspiring broader conversations about accessibility and inclusion in sport.

With the South American crown secured, Brazil now sets its sights on Costa Rica, where the world’s best amputee football teams will meet in 2026. Riding the momentum of their regional success, the Brazilian squad is determined to turn continental glory into a shot at the world title.
