The national men's and women's amputee football teams are set to kick off intensive preparations for the upcoming CECAFA (Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations) tournament in Bujumbura, Burundi, with a month-long residential training camp.
According to the organizing secretary for the Kenya Amputee Football Federation, Dismus Kuyiyi, both squads will report to the Parklands Sports Club in Nairobi for the entire month of August. This rigorous training period is aimed at fine-tuning their skills and strategy before their departure for Bujumbura on September 6.
Kuyiyi expressed strong confidence in the teams' abilities, stating that both the men's team, led by Head Coach Clement Otieno, and the women's team, under Head Coach Sharon Nyaoke, will be well-prepared to vie for top honors at the regional competition. The CECAFA tournament represents a significant platform for the teams to showcase their talent and compete against regional rivals.
