A New Dawn For Affordable Housing In Kenya As President Ruto Launches Mukuru Phase 1

In a landmark moment for Kenya, the President has officially commissioned Lot 1—Phase 1 of the transformative New Mukuru Housing Estate, delivering 1,080 social housing units to deserving citizens. “These are not keys to open doors or houses; these are keys to homes,” he declared.
Part of the historic 13,248-unit Mukuru project—the largest real estate development in Kenya’s history—these homes symbolize dignity, security, and hope for thousands. “We are providing better sanitation, security, and livelihoods to thousands of ordinary people who would never have had such a chance.”
With more than 200 similar projects underway across the country and over 200,000 youth employed, the government’s Bottom-Up Housing agenda is reshaping lives.
Lot 02 is adding 3,024 one-bedroom units; Lot 03 brings 4,608 two-bedroom homes.
“This is Kenya’s bottom-up moment,” the President affirmed. The journey to inclusive, decent housing has begun—bold, ambitious, and transformational.
