Kenyan Nurse Charged Over Assault On Amputee Patient

Kenyan-born nurse and social media personality Abedinecho Katue, 46, has been arrested in Orlando, Florida, United States on sexual assault charges. He is being held in the Orange County Jail without bond as authorities continue investigations into the case.
The alleged incident took place on January 26, 2025, at AdventHealth Orlando. Katue, who was working as a “floater” nurse, is accused of inappropriately touching a physically incapacitated amputee patient.
Reports indicate that the victim was administered morphine through her IV without consent, allegedly to prevent her from resisting or reporting the conduct. The victim also claims Katue made inappropriate comments during the encounter.
Police say the victim recorded some interactions, which have been included in the investigation. Katue reportedly continued entering the patient’s room even after being told not to.
Following the initial complaint, the hospital reportedly placed Katue on leave. His nursing license remains active, and he maintained a social media presence after the investigation began.
The charges filed against Katue include sexual battery on a physically incapacitated person and lewd or lascivious molestation of a disabled adult. Each carries significant penalties under U.S. law if he is convicted.
Katue’s case is now before the Ninth Circuit Court of Orange County. Court proceedings are ongoing, and he is expected to appear for hearings as the legal process continues.
