A 28-year-old female officer serving with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has been found dead at her home in Migori County, police have confirmed. The incident occurred in the Osingo area of Suna East Sub-County during the early hours of Christmas Day, shortly after the officer had reportedly returned home from the barracks.
According to police, the officer’s body was discovered lying in a pool of blood inside the house. Preliminary observations indicated visible injuries, including a deep cut to the head, raising suspicion of foul play. Officers also noted possible signs of strangulation, prompting the launch of a homicide investigation.
Police moved quickly to secure the scene as detectives and forensic teams began collecting evidence. The body was later taken to a local mortuary pending a post-mortem examination that is expected to establish the exact cause of death. Authorities say the results will be crucial in guiding the next steps of the investigation.
In the course of the inquiry, the officer’s husband has been taken in for questioning to assist investigators. Police said he was among the first people to alert authorities after the discovery. No charges have been announced so far, and officers insist that all possibilities remain under consideration.
The motive behind the killing remains unknown, with police emphasizing that investigations are still ongoing. The incident has shocked residents of the area and drawn wider attention due to the victim’s military service, as detectives work to piece together the circumstances surrounding her death.
