Wolverhampton Wanderers have sacked head coach Vitor Pereira with immediate effect following a disastrous start to the 2025/26 Premier League season.
The Portuguese manager leaves the Molineux club after collecting just two points from ten league matches, leaving Wolves rooted to the bottom of the table. The final straw came after a 3–0 defeat to Fulham, which intensified pressure on Pereira and his backroom staff.
In a statement, Wolves chairman Jeff Shi thanked Pereira for his efforts in securing top-flight survival last season but admitted the team’s current form was “unacceptable.” The club confirmed that the coaching staff who joined with Pereira have also departed, with interim coaches from the U21 and U18 setups set to take charge while a permanent replacement is identified.
Wolves are now facing a major relegation battle, with no Premier League side ever surviving after taking only two points from their opening ten fixtures.
Among the early candidates being discussed to replace Pereira are Brendan Rodgers, Sérgio Conceição, and Erik ten Hag, as the club looks for an experienced figure capable of restoring defensive stability, improving attacking play, and reviving morale among fans.
