Vetting Of Principal Secretary Nominees Kicks Off Today
Permanent Secretaries nominated by President William Ruto are set to appear before the National Assembly’s departmental committees for vetting Today.
According to the vetting timetable shared on Friday by the Clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge, the exercise will take place between November 14, 2022, and November 18, 2022, at 9 am and 4:30 pm on the respective dates.
The nominees are expected to carry along their documents, including national identity cards, academic certificates, and clearance certificates from HELB, KRA, the DCI, and Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.
The 51 nominees have already been interviewed by the Public Service Commission.
Members of the public were invited to also give their views which will form part of vetting process.
Dr. Chris Kiptoo National Treasury PS nominee opened the finance and planning committee sitting at 9.00 AM. Kiptoo is currently the PS for the environment
Economic planning PS nominee, former IEBC director of ICT James Muhati, will face the same panel today.
The Agriculture committee will also vet Philip Harsama to serve as PS Crop Development before Harry Kimutai, who will serve as Livestock Development PS.
Facing the Administration and Internal Affairs committee will be former Devolution PS Julius Korir, Raymond Omollo, Prof. Julius Bittok, and Aurelia Rono.
In the afternoon, the Health Committee will vet current labor PS Eng. Peter Tum before Dr. Josephine Mburu faces the same panel.
By the end of the week, 11 principal secretaries will have defended their nominations to the respective ministries.
