United opposition on their way to Kisii DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, Hon. Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Hon Eugene Wamalwa engaged with the residents of Mulot, Bomet County

The Mulot stopover formed part of the opposition’s ongoing nationwide public engagement tour ahead of the 2027 General Election. Residents gathered in the town centre and along the highway to listen as the leaders outlined their political agenda and responded to concerns raised by locals. The meeting was open-air and drew a sizeable crowd.

Gachagua used the platform to criticise what he described as silence from elected leaders in the region on pressing national and local matters. He positioned himself as a defender of ordinary citizens, particularly those in Rift Valley counties, arguing that communities deserve firm representation in national debates.

Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Democratic Movement, reaffirmed the coalition’s unity and commitment to inclusive governance. He emphasised that Kenya belongs to all its citizens and that public policy must serve every region equally, regardless of political alignment.

Eugene Wamalwa, who heads the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K), echoed calls for accountability and transparency. He stressed the importance of preparing early to safeguard democratic processes ahead of the next general election.

The three leaders are working under the broader banner of the United Opposition, also referred to in some forums as the United Alternative Government. The alliance brings together DCP, Wiper, and DAP-K in a coordinated political front challenging the current administration.

During the Mulot engagement, the leaders advocated for equal opportunity, economic fairness, and protection of civil liberties. They argued that national economic policies affect all Kenyans and that hardships such as the high cost of living cut across communities.

Electoral integrity featured prominently in their messaging. The coalition reiterated its commitment to protecting votes in 2027 and ensuring that the will of the people is respected, signalling plans for mobilisation and oversight as the election period approaches.

After Mulot, the leaders proceeded with engagements in Bomet Town where they interacted further with residents. Members of the public raised concerns including agricultural prices, youth unemployment, and local development challenges.

In Chebilat, within Sotik Constituency, the opposition principals continued their public engagement later in the day, addressing another gathering and reinforcing their call for unity and political vigilance. The meetings were reported to have proceeded peacefully.

Monday’s activities in Bomet County underscored the growing coordination among the United Opposition leaders as they intensify grassroots outreach across the country. Their message throughout the day remained focused on inclusive governance, electoral preparedness, and sustained public engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
