Uganda Thrash Mozambique 4-0 To Boost World Cup Qualification Hopes

Uganda cruised to a convincing 4-0 victory over Mozambique in their CAF World Cup Qualification Group G clash on Friday evening. After a goalless first half, the Cranes came alive in the second period with a dominant display at home.
Allan Okello opened the scoring in the 48th minute, slotting home after being set up by Joel Ssemugabi. The breakthrough lifted Uganda’s confidence, and they doubled their lead in the 70th minute when Steven Mukwala set up Rogers Mato for a composed finish.
Mato struck again in the 84th minute, this time assisted by Okello, to put the result beyond doubt. In stoppage time, Elio Capradossi added a fourth, capping off an emphatic win for the hosts. Mozambique struggled to cope with Uganda’s intensity after the break and rarely threatened.
The result leaves both Uganda and Mozambique tied on 12 points after seven matches, but Uganda move into second place with a superior goal difference (+3 to Mozambique’s -5). The win keeps Uganda firmly in the qualification race as the group battle heats up.
