The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General, Hassan Omar Hassan, has dismissed claims by the United Opposition, describing their political agenda as “rudderless” and reactionary.

Omar made the remarks on Friday, February 27, 2026, during a party briefing in Mombasa County, responding to the outcome of recent by-elections.

He highlighted UDA’s sweeping victories in the February 26 polls, where the party secured the Isiolo South parliamentary seat and three county assembly positions. The results, he said, reflected Kenyans’ endorsement of UDA’s governance agenda.

The party’s top administrator singled out leaders of the United Opposition, including Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Justin Muturi, accusing them of misleading the public with rhetoric instead of credible policy alternatives.

Omar emphasised that the opposition’s statements were driven by frustration, claiming they failed to present a clear plan for national development. He argued that their approach focused on criticism rather than practical solutions.

He framed the by-election results as a mandate for President William Ruto and UDA, asserting that the party’s performance demonstrated public confidence in its leadership and policy direction.

The UDA Secretary General also highlighted the party’s developmental record, describing it as transformational and contrasting it with what he labelled the opposition’s preoccupation with political point-scoring.

Omar warned that UDA would not be drawn into unproductive debates with the opposition, reiterating the party’s commitment to its policy agenda and service delivery.

He encouraged party supporters to remain vigilant and active, ensuring that UDA’s message of accountability and national progress continued to resonate across the country.

The briefing concluded with Omar reaffirming that UDA would maintain its political momentum and focus on tangible results for citizens, leaving the opposition to react to the party’s growing influence and popularity.
