Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey has pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of rape and sexual assault during a court appearance at Southwark Crown Court in London. The Ghana international is facing five charges of rape and one count of sexual assault involving three women, with the alleged offences said to have occurred between April 2021 and June 2022 when he was still playing for Arsenal.
Partey entered the courtroom on Wednesday morning dressed in a dark suit. He confirmed his full name and date of birth before entering his plea of not guilty to all six charges. The proceedings drew significant attention, given the high-profile nature of the case and the player’s international status.
The court granted Partey conditional bail, which prohibits him from contacting the three complainants. He must also notify the police of any change of permanent address or international travel while the case is ongoing. These conditions will remain in place until the trial begins.
The trial has been scheduled for November 2, 2026, at Southwark Crown Court and is expected to last between six and eight weeks. The case is set to be closely followed both in the United Kingdom and in Ghana, where Partey captains the national football team.
