Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has called for patience with head coach Ruben Amorim, insisting the Portuguese tactician will be given time to implement his vision at Old Trafford.
Ratcliffe revealed that Amorim will be allowed three years to prove himself, drawing parallels with legendary former boss Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta. The billionaire investor reminded fans of the value of long-term planning in football.
“I remember the clamouring for Alex Ferguson to be fired in his first two years,” Ratcliffe said, highlighting how even great managers endured tough beginnings. “You look at (Mikel) Arteta at Arsenal. He had a miserable time for the first couple of years.”
Ratcliffe added that results remain important but urged supporters to remain calm. “We’re results-driven at the end of the day, but we have to be patient and we have to see through the results,” he explained. “Football is not overnight… You can’t run a club like Manchester United on knee-jerk reactions.”
The comments come amid scrutiny over United’s recent form, with Ratcliffe emphasizing that stability and belief in Amorim’s long-term project are crucial for restoring the club’s glory.
