Shujaa Finish Hong Kong Sevens With Strong Win Over France

Kenya sevens beats France 21 - 7 to secure the seventh place at the Hong Kong SVNS Championship

Kenya’s Shujaa wrapped up their Hong Kong SVNS campaign with a confident 21–7 victory over France in the 7th-place playoff, closing their tournament on a positive note at Kai Tak Sports Park.

The result ensured Kenya finished 7th overall in the Hong Kong leg, securing 8 valuable series points as the SVNS World Series now takes a one-month break before the next stop in Spain.

Shujaa began their campaign in challenging fashion during the pool stages, where they struggled to maintain consistency against fast-starting opposition.

Early matches exposed defensive gaps and occasional handling errors, which cost them momentum and prevented progression to the Cup knockout rounds.

Those results pushed Kenya into the lower classification bracket, where they had to fight through placement matches instead of competing for the title.

Despite the setback, Shujaa responded with improved organisation in the playoff stages, showing better defensive structure and more controlled possession phases.

Their intensity at the breakdown increased, allowing them to slow down opponents and create more attacking platforms.

The turnaround became evident in their final match against France, where Kenya delivered one of their most complete performances of the tournament.

Shujaa combined physical dominance with sharper execution in attack, scoring crucial tries while limiting France’s scoring opportunities.

The 21–7 win reflected improved discipline and composure, particularly in defensive transitions and finishing inside the opposition half.

With the result, Kenya leave Hong Kong with momentum and ranking points, though the campaign also highlights the need for greater consistency as the SVNS series moves toward its next leg in Spain.
