Education PS Julius Bitok confirms Grade 10 placement results for senior schools will be released Friday, Dec 19
Senior school placements for learners who sat the 2025 Kenya Junior Secondary Education Assessment (KJSEA) will be released by Friday, the Ministry of Education has announced. Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok said the exercise marks a critical step in the transition of Grade 9 learners to senior school under the Competency-Based Education framework.
Speaking on the placement process, PS Bitok noted that the ministry is finalising allocations to ensure learners are admitted to schools that align with their performance, interests and selected learning pathways. The placements follow the release of the 2025 KJSEA results earlier this month.
Learners and parents will be able to check placement results through a simple SMS service. Candidates are required to send their KNEC assessment number via SMS to the shortcode 22263, after which they will receive details of the senior school they have been placed in.
The SMS option is intended to make the process accessible to families across the country, especially those with limited internet access. Education officials said schools will also receive official placement information to guide admission and reporting arrangements.
The transition to senior school is a major milestone under the new education system, which replaces the traditional KCSE pathway. The ministry has assured parents and learners that reporting dates and further guidelines will be communicated once placements are fully released.
