Vihiga Godfrey Osotsi and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna address media after Osotsi is discharged from Karen hospital

Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has been discharged from Karen Hospital after a three-day admission following a violent attack by suspected goons in Kisumu on Wednesday.

The legislator sustained injuries during the incident and was initially treated in Kisumu before being transferred to Nairobi for specialised care.

Recounting the attack, Osotsi described the extent of his injuries, stating, “My whole face was swollen. I could not be recognized.”

He expressed gratitude to the medical team that handled his treatment, saying, “Uh I want to thank Karen Hospital.”

In his remarks, the senator directly linked the attack to Raymond Omollo, the Interior Principal Secretary, claiming, “I want to place the blame where it belongs… Raymond Omoro is responsible for my attack.”

Osotsi further alleged that he had been under surveillance prior to the incident, stating, “He has been trailing me. They have put police to trail me and to trail Linda Mani team.”

Defending his actions, the senator maintained his innocence, saying, “We are not thieves. We have not stolen anything. Yes, we are just exercising our democratic right.”

He accused the Interior PS of using intimidation tactics for political influence, adding, “You are doing it for R… But you are not going to get western Kenya using goons.”

The senator also criticised the alleged misuse of security apparatus, claiming, “Even Raymono himself does not walk around with the police. He walks around with goons.”

Calling for accountability, Osotsi urged authorities to act, saying, “Raymond must be arrested… We cannot allow the people in charge of security dockets to use that docket to intimidate Kenyans and not protect Kenyans.”

He, however, cautioned against escalating tensions, noting, “We cannot fight with our brothers and sisters in Luanza… This is just one individual who must be dealt with as an individual.”

Authorities have since launched investigations into the attack, even as the allegations directed at the Interior Ministry leadership intensify political debate.
