Veteran goalkeeper Scott Carson has officially announced his retirement from professional football, bringing an end to a remarkable two-decade career that saw him lift 12 trophies with Manchester City despite making just 107 minutes of first-team appearances.
The 40-year-old shot-stopper joined Manchester City in 2019, serving as a reliable and respected figure in the dressing room. Though rarely called upon on the pitch, Carson was valued for his leadership, professionalism, and influence on younger players.
Over his six seasons at City, Carson collected an impressive medal haul that includes multiple Premier League titles, FA Cups, Carabao Cups, and the UEFA Champions League. His final contract with the club expired in June 2025, marking the conclusion of his playing days.
Carson’s career began at Leeds United before joining Liverpool in 2005, where he won the UEFA Super Cup. He later played for West Bromwich Albion, Wigan Athletic, Derby County, and finally City.
In his retirement message, Carson expressed gratitude to teammates, coaches, and fans, saying it was time to “hang up the gloves” and reflect proudly on a career defined by dedication and respect both on and off the pitch.
