Arsenal centre-back William Saliba has agreed a new contract with the club, in what is seen as a major boost for manager Mikel Arteta and his squad.
The 24-year-old is expected to sign the new deal in the coming days. Arsenal began negotiations earlier this year, aiming to secure his services beyond June 2027, when his current contract was due to expire.
Saliba had attracted interest from European giants Real Madrid, but the French international has repeatedly stated that he is happy in north London. He has also expressed his ambition to win major honours with Arsenal, who last lifted silverware in 2020 with the FA Cup.
Back in March, Saliba confirmed that conversations with the club were progressing positively, noting that he hoped to extend his stay. His commitment now provides much-needed stability at the heart of Arsenal’s defence.
An official announcement from the club is expected soon, with the new contract seen as a crucial step in Arsenal’s plans to compete for future titles.
