Safaricom Teams Up with Signs Media to Integrate assistALL Mini-App
Safaricom, in collaboration with Signs Media, has introduced the assistALL mini-app, embedded within the M-PESA App, to provide on-demand sign language interpretation services. This digital solution connects the deaf to a sign language interpreter via its mobile app.
This move is dedicated to promoting inclusivity and accessibility for the deaf.
Peter Ndegwa, Safaricom CEO, emphasized that this app empowers the deaf, granting them unhindered access to opportunities that were previously obstructed by communication barriers.
“At Safaricom, we believe in the power of technology to break down barriers and drive inclusion and accessibility. In a world that is increasingly reliant on digital services, this partnership is a milestone in our mission to make technology more accessible for everyone and contribute to a more inclusive society,” Ndegwa stated.
The assistALL Mini-App aims to bridge the gap in sign language interpretation services across various sectors, including healthcare, government services, finance, and transportation, among others.
The app will cater to different categories, including corporates, professionals, and individuals, ensuring greater accessibility at an affordable cost.
Luke Muleka, Founder and Managing Director of Signs Media Kenya Limited, expressed their vision of enabling the deaf community to actively participate in Kenya's socio-economic development and beyond through this partnership with Safaricom.
