President William Ruto on Sunday attended a church service in Kilgoris, Narok County, where he joined congregants for worship and later addressed residents on pressing national issues.
The Head of State used the platform to emphasize the importance of unity, urging Kenyans to remain cohesive despite ongoing political and economic challenges facing the country.
During his address, President Ruto reiterated his administration’s commitment to economic transformation, highlighting key programs aimed at uplifting livelihoods, particularly in rural areas.
He assured residents of Narok County that the government will continue investing in infrastructure, agriculture, and social services to spur development and improve living standards.
At the same time, the President pledged a firm crackdown on cartels in the petroleum sector, warning that individuals manipulating fuel supply systems for personal gain will face decisive action.
He said his administration will not tolerate networks that distort the market and undermine the country’s energy security, vowing that those responsible will be held accountable.
The President’s remarks come amid heightened scrutiny in the energy sector following a major fuel scandal that has led to the resignation of senior officials and triggered wide-ranging investigations.
Authorities believe some individuals within the supply chain may have deliberately created artificial shortages or distorted fuel stock data to justify emergency imports and inflate prices, sparking public outrage.
President Ruto emphasized that dismantling such cartels is a top priority, noting that weak oversight in the past had allowed them to thrive, but warning that both public officials and private sector players involved will be prosecuted.
He added that ongoing investigations by agencies such as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority are already yielding results, as the government works to restore transparency, protect consumers, and ensure long-term stability in the energy sector.
