President William Samoei Ruto on Sunday officially opened the Africa Inland Church (AIC)‑Pipeline in Embakasi, Nairobi County, praising the congregation’s faith and community service. During the ceremony, he donated KSh 1 million to support the church choir and urged worshippers to “do good and share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

Ruto said the newly completed church will serve as a spiritual hub for residents of Pipeline and the surrounding areas. He highlighted the completion of the church as a testament to community effort and long-term investment in Nairobi’s social infrastructure.

Beyond the church opening, the President outlined a transformative development agenda for Nairobi, aimed at tackling urban challenges such as poor waste management, water shortages, unreliable electricity, and congested roads.

Key projects include the construction of one priority road in each of Nairobi’s 85 electoral wards, prioritising the Maragua IV Dam to boost water supply, and stabilising electricity across the city.

A comprehensive garbage management programme will commence on 1 April 2026, ensuring timely collection citywide. Ruto also announced plans to upgrade the Dandora Dumpsite, building a modern treatment plant to generate energy, produce fertiliser, and manage waste more sustainably.

The President pledged a KSh 220 billion investment in Nairobi, which will fund 169,000 affordable housing units, 16 modern markets, and hostels accommodating 14,000 students.

In education, the government will construct 700 classrooms in public schools, creating space for an additional 21,000 learners.

Ruto emphasised that residents should judge leaders by their work and delivery, rather than tribe or religion, stressing that tangible results are the measure of effective governance.

He assured Nairobians that the national government will work closely with the County government to implement these initiatives, aiming to transform the capital into a cleaner, more livable, and economically vibrant city.

The announcements mark a blend of spiritual engagement and practical development, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving both the moral and material well-being of Nairobi residents.

Residents and church leaders lauded the President’s commitment, describing the programmes as visionary steps toward modernising Nairobi while fostering community cohesion.

Ruto’s address underscored the link between faith, community service, and sustainable urban development, signalling a proactive approach to addressing the capital’s long-standing infrastructural and social challenges.

The launch of the Pipeline church and the unveiling of the development plan reflect a holistic strategy to improve quality of life, create employment opportunities, and ensure Nairobi becomes a model city for the rest of the country.
