President William Ruto used his address in Mombasa to defend his administration’s development record while calling for national unity and rejecting politics of division, saying Kenya must remain united regardless of political differences.

He told residents of the Coast that his government has chosen a path of inclusivity and rejected ethnic division in governance, insisting that the country must move forward as one nation.

Ruto emphasized that Kenya has sufficient resources to benefit all citizens if properly managed, but warned against greed and exclusion in resource distribution.

“Taifa la Kenya ni taifa moja. We have enough to share among the people of Kenya. We do not have enough for anybody’s greed but we have enough to satisfy every Kenyan.

He further defended the broad-based political arrangement, saying it was designed to unite the country and eliminate historical divisions.

The President said the arrangement had already begun producing results, especially in addressing long-standing national challenges, including land disputes.

And I proudly say broad-based government delivers to the people of Kenya. That is the spirit of unity, the spirit of working together ndio itatusaidia twende mbele kwa pamoja.”

Turning to infrastructure development in the Coast region, Ruto announced investments aimed at easing transport challenges, particularly at the Likoni Ferry crossing in Mombasa.

“Mombasa hoye hoye Mombasa hoye hoye mimi nataka nimalizie nimeona asubuhi ya leo watu wa Mombasa wakifuka niwaeleze wangwana wa Mombasa na kule Kwale ya kwamba feri nyingine kabla ya Desemba we have committed 3 billion shillings by December we will have a new ferry to reduce the congestion here at this ferry.”

He added that additional infrastructure work is ongoing in Mtongwe to improve mobility within the coastal city.

“Na pia kule Mtongwe pia kule Mtongwe we are investing another 500 million to make sure that mobility is improved in this Mombasa county.”

Ruto also took aim at his critics, dismissing them as lacking ideas and leadership direction, saying his government remains focused on development.

“Wale hawaelewi chochote. Wale mpango hawana. Wale sera hawana. Wale ajenda hawana. Hata akili hawana. Wale msijali nao. Sijui kama tunaelewana.”

He further accused political opponents of using insults and ethnic rhetoric, insisting such tactics would not derail his administration’s agenda.

The President said leadership should be measured by performance, vision, and track record rather than political rhetoric.

Kweli.”

He warned critics against attempts to divide the country along ethnic lines, insisting Kenya’s unity is non-negotiable.

“I want to say for fear without fear of any contradiction while I am here at the coast for those of you who are visionless the people who are agendaless the people who have no vision for our nation the people who have no plan for our nation... You will not divide our nation using ethnicity. You will not divide our nation using hate. Hiyo mnafanya the hate you are spewing. I want to tell you one day one day you will answer for the tribalism you are perpetuating in Kenya for the hate you are perpetuating in Kenya.”

Ruto also referenced the case of violence and profiling, condemning ethnic labelling and political hostility that he said has harmed innocent Kenyans.

“The life of Rachel Wandeto and answered. You who call other traitors. You mwenye mnawaita Wakenya wengine wasaliti.

He warned against attempts to blackmail the nation through ethnic politics and division, saying such actions would not be tolerated.

“Hatuwezi kukubali hatuwezi kuwaruhusu mtuuzie ukabila, mtuuzie chuki, mtuuzie blackmail we are telling we will not allow you to blackmail anybody in Kenya. You will not blackmail our nation using ethnicity. You will not blackmail our nation using hate. You will not provide citizens as traitors because they don't believe in your tribal bigotry.”

The President concluded by calling for national cohesion and unity, insisting that Kenya’s future depends on collective progress.

“We are going to stand together as a nation and one day one day you will answer for what you are doing. Our nation will not go forward our nation our nation will not go backwards. Our nation will move forward with unity because we are one nation, one people with a common destiny.”
