Spanish giants Real Madrid CF have fined midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni €500,000 each following an internal disciplinary investigation into a training-ground altercation. The club confirmed the punishment in an official statement released on Friday.
According to the statement, both players appeared before the club’s investigating officer and admitted regret over the incident. They apologized to each other and also extended apologies to the club, teammates, coaching staff and supporters.
Real Madrid stated that both players offered their full cooperation during the disciplinary process and accepted responsibility for their actions. The club added that the fines conclude all internal proceedings related to the matter.
Reports in Spain indicated the confrontation began during a heated training session earlier this week after a strong challenge between the two midfielders escalated into an argument. Tensions reportedly continued into the dressing room before staff members intervened.
Some reports claimed Valverde suffered a head injury during the confrontation and briefly received medical attention. However, the Uruguayan midfielder later denied suggestions that the pair exchanged punches intentionally.
Valverde reportedly described the incident as an emotional reaction linked to frustrations from a difficult season. Real Madrid have endured a turbulent campaign marked by inconsistent performances and growing pressure around the squad.

During their appearance, the players expressed their sincere regret for what happened and apologized to each other.
They also conveyed their apologies to the club, their teammates, the coaching staff, and the fans, and both offered their full cooperation to Real Madrid, ready to accept whatever sanction the club deems appropriate.
In light of these circumstances, Real Madrid has decided to impose a fine of five hundred thousand euros on each player, thus concluding the corresponding internal procedures”.
