The Liverpool suffered a 2–0 defeat to the Paris Saint-Germain at Anfield in a decisive UEFA Champions League knockout clash, as the French champions delivered a composed and clinical performance to progress on aggregate.

The match began at a high intensity, with PSG immediately pressing high and forcing Liverpool into early defensive errors. The visitors quickly established control of possession, dictating the tempo and limiting Liverpool’s ability to build structured attacks from the back.

PSG broke the deadlock in the 11th minute through rising star Désiré Doué, whose effort took a deflection before finding the back of the net, silencing the Anfield crowd and giving the French side a crucial advantage in the tie.

Liverpool attempted to respond through quick transitions and wide play, but PSG’s defensive shape remained disciplined, cutting off passing lanes into dangerous areas and forcing the home side into long-range attempts that failed to trouble the goalkeeper consistently.

Despite spells of pressure from Liverpool, PSG continued to look more dangerous on the counterattack. The visitors used pace and movement in wide areas to stretch Liverpool’s backline and create repeated openings in the final third.

The second half saw Liverpool push forward with greater urgency, but their finishing remained wasteful, with key chances either blocked, saved, or misdirected under pressure from PSG’s backline.

PSG doubled their advantage in the 65th minute through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who produced a composed finish after a sharp attacking move, effectively sealing the contest and leaving Liverpool with a near-impossible task.

Following the second goal, PSG managed the game intelligently, slowing the tempo and maintaining possession in key areas to prevent Liverpool from building any meaningful momentum in front of goal.

Liverpool introduced attacking substitutions in an effort to salvage the tie, but PSG’s structure remained intact, with the midfield and defence working cohesively to neutralise late pressure from the hosts.

The final whistle confirmed a comprehensive PSG victory on the night and across the tie, with the Parisians advancing comfortably after a disciplined two-legged performance, while Liverpool were left to reflect on missed opportunities and a lack of cutting edge in decisive moments.
