President Ruto Reshuffles Cabinet, Merges, And Renames Ministries
President William Ruto on Wednesday night reshuffled eight members of his cabinet, merging and renaming various ministries.
The office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary was expanded to include the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, and a new Ministry of Gender, Culture the Arts, and Heritage was created. Several Cabinet Secretaries were also moved to new ministries.
The affected CSs include Moses Kuria, Rebecca Miano, Peninah Malonza, Alice Wahome, Zacharia Njeru, Alfred Mutua, and Aisha Jumwa.
Investments, Trade and Industry Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria was moved to the newly reconstituted Ministry of Public Service, Performance and Delivery Management.
His Foreign and Diaspora Affairs counterpart Alfred Mutua was moved to the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife.
Ministry of Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage will be headed by Aisha Jumwa. The Ministry of Youth Affairs, the Arts and Sports was reconstituted and renamed the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and will remain under Ababu Namwamba.
In a statement, the President said that the changes were necessary to "optimize performance and enhance delivery as set out in the administration's manifesto." He also said that the changes would "ensure that the government is better equipped to respond to the needs of the people."
