South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Wednesday arrived in the country for a two-day visit.

During his visit he is expected to hold talks with President William Ruto aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations.

The two leaders commenced their talks on Wednesday with immigration policies agenda which has been hindering trade relations between the two countries.

They agreed on loosening the existing stringent immigration policies between Kenya and South Africa in a bid to boost continental trade.

This move will allow Kenyans to travel to South Africa without a visa starting January 2023.

In a joint address after holding bilateral talks at State House, Nairobi, the two leaders said that under the new regulations, Kenyans will enter the second-largest economy in Africa visa-free for up to 90 days each year.

At the same time, the two Heads of State said they had agreed on a returns policy in instances of breach of immigration laws and regulations of both countries.

In other anticipated talks, several issues are expected to take center stage, among them being the deportation of Kenyan illegal migrants, and regional, continental, and global issues of mutual concern including the promotion of peace, security, and stability.

The invitation by President Ruto was for Kenya and South Africa to resolve trade obstacles in a push to rise business and cooperation between the two countries.

South Africa will now remove visa essentials for Kenyans traveling to the South African Nation starting next year in January for a maximum of 90 days yearly, a move expected to console trade, ethnic ties, tourism, and investment.

President Ramaphosa was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by Foreign affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua and Mining Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya.
