BY NKATHA WAINAINA
The National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya (NFDK) has donated various equipment to 62 persons with disabilities in Murang’a County.
The beneficiaries had applied from the NFDK for assistive equipment and trade tools that would enable them to improve their living conditions.
Professor Julia Ojiambo, an NFDK Board trustee member, said during this year’s annual issuance of equipment, about over 3, 000 persons with disabilities will get the equipment they had applied for.
She also noted NFDK will spend Sh. 60 million this year to purchase and distribute various equipment and tools to the beneficiaries in their respective counties. The money is shared in even portions to all sub-counties.
Ojiambo urged the beneficiaries and particularly caregivers of persons with disabilities to use given equipment and tools wisely for the benefit of the disabled.
She added that persons with disabilities can access application forms from their area chiefs and apply to get assistance with various trade tools.
She concluded by calling for political tolerance, saying when there is turmoil person with disabilities is mostly affected.
