Omanyala storms into 100m Semis at Commonwealth Games.

Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala easily cruised into Wednesday’s semi-finals of the men’s 100m at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom, winning his heat in a time of 10.07secs.

Omanyala exploded to the finishing line ahead of Cameroonian Emmanuel Eseme, who finished second with a personal best time of 10.08secs.

Omanyala’s finishing time was the fastest in the preliminary rounds, with defending champion Akani Simbine of South Africa progressing after winning his Heat in 10.10secs.

At the same time, Samuel Imeta also progressed to the semi-finals with a spirited run, finishing second in his heat with a Personal Best time of 10.12secs.

Omanyala looked fresher, fitter and more focused bouncing back from his disappointment at the World Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
