Omanyala finishes second in Paris Diamond League
Ferdinand Omanyala finished second at the Paris Diamond League, behind 200m World Champion Noah Lyles, by a hundredth of a second.
Omanyala clocked 9.98, losing to American Lyles who dipped faster at the finish line to clock 9.97.
The Commonwealth Games champion also competed for the first time against Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs, who was also no match for him.
Yohan Blake finished fourth in 10.16 and Jacobs seventh in 10.21. Botswana’s rising talent and 2021 World Under-20 champion Letsile Tebogo finished third in a season’s best time of 10.05.
Lyles last gasp dip saw the American emerge first in a photo finish 9.97 seconds.
Omanyala has had a busy season including Rabat diamond League on May 28, where he lost to world 100m champion Fred kerley who won in 9.94 seconds.
The duo squared it out again at Florence Diamond League on June 2 where Omanyala settled for second in 10.05 seconds behind Fred Kerley.
