Okumu, Marcelo doubtful Ahead Of Gabon Clash

Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat has provided an update to his squad ahead of the opening 2026 World Cup qualifiers match against Gabon and Seychelles.

Reims Centre back Joseph Okumu, AIK left back Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma, right back Daniel Anyembe, Collins Sichenje and goalkeeper Bryne Odhiambo are all doubtful, with only three days to the Gabon clash.

Ayub Timbe, a dependable winger, is also injured, leaving Firat with no option but bring in a different crop of players he has not worked with in the eight-month period he has been building his team his second return with the stars.

“It is quite unfortunate that most these players got injured this week, so there is a very small room for informed adjustments. We however have to do the best we can, but we know what this means. We will get final information about some of them and make decisions by tomorrow (Tuesday),” said the coach, who also revealed new there will be new call-ups ahead of the Gabon trip.

Coach Firan however said he still has some of the injured players in mind while preparing for the matches, before the unfortunate turn of events.
