Businessman and Orange Democratic Movement stalwart Oketch Salah has reaffirmed his loyalty to the party, stressing that his recent political engagements were motivated by personal conviction and not external influence. He said his actions were intended to support and popularise ODM ideals across the country.
Salah emphasised that all activities associated with him were financed entirely from his own resources, insisting that he neither sought nor received financial support from the party. He described the spending as a personal contribution to a political movement he has long supported.
Responding to criticism from sections of ODM leadership, Salah maintained that he remains a loyal party member and has no intention of undermining official party structures. He said his commitment to ODM is rooted in years of political engagement and belief in the party’s vision.
He also issued an apology to ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga if his actions were perceived to have caused discomfort within the party, noting that creating internal friction was never his goal. Salah said unity and dialogue remain critical for ODM’s strength going forward.
ODM, however, distanced itself from Salah’s activities, clarifying that any meetings or initiatives linked to him were conducted in his personal capacity. The party stressed that only programmes approved through official party organs and the secretariat are recognised as ODM activities.
Party officials further cautioned supporters and grassroots leaders against participating in unauthorised events conducted under the ODM name, reiterating the importance of discipline and adherence to party procedures. The clarification was aimed at protecting the party’s organisational integrity.
Despite the public clarification, Salah reiterated that his loyalty to ODM remains unwavering, linking his commitment to a promise he says he made to the late party leader Raila Odinga. He said he would continue supporting the party as an individual member driven by loyalty, respect and belief in its founding principles.
