Neighbours of Manchester City midfielder Rodri have reported the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner to police after alleging he flew a drone close to their apartment windows, sparking privacy concerns.
Residents living in the high-rise building where Rodri lives said the drone was operated from the player’s penthouse balcony and hovered as close as a metre from their windows, leaving them unsettled.
One neighbour said: "I live with my partner on a high floor and the last thing you expect to see when you're watching telly is a drone a metre outside your window."
He added: "My wife is very unnerved by it. One of the benefits of living so high up is you are not overlooked by anyone, but now we are being plagued by Rodri and his drone."
Photos and videos shared among residents show the midfielder allegedly controlling the drone from his balcony. Several neighbours expressed concerns that the flights could violate privacy and harassment regulations.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that they have received reports and are making enquiries, with officers expected to speak to Rodri about the situation and ensure compliance with UK drone laws.
Rodri, 29, who joined Manchester City in 2019 from Atlético Madrid, has not publicly commented. His Salford penthouse is co-occupied with partner Laura Iglesias, and the club has yet to release a statement on the matter.
