Naivasha Court Issues Arrest Warrants For Kenyan Couple In US Over Alleged Murder Plot

A Naivasha court has issued arrest warrants for a Kenyan couple residing in the United States over allegations that they were involved in a plot to kill five members of their extended family.
Chief Magistrate Ramathan ordered the warrants after the accused repeatedly failed to respond to court summons or appear before the court to answer to the charges. The court noted that their absence had stalled proceedings in the long-running case.
Prosecutors allege that the couple was part of a conspiracy involving plans to eliminate several relatives in a dispute believed to be connected to property and inheritance. The alleged scheme is said to have been coordinated across Kenya and the United States.
The court heard that the accused were linked to an attempt to recruit individuals to carry out the killings, with financial arrangements allegedly discussed as part of the plan. One co-accused relative is already before the court facing related charges.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions has been pursuing the matter and pushing for the suspects’ return to Kenya to face trial. Authorities argue that their continued absence undermines the progress of the case.
The court has previously issued summons requiring the accused to attend hearings, but those directives were not complied with, prompting escalation to arrest warrants.
Judicial officials indicated that the warrants are intended to enable international cooperation mechanisms, including possible extradition procedures, to secure the suspects’ presence in court.
The case is expected to proceed once the suspects are apprehended or voluntarily present themselves, with prosecutors set to present further evidence linking them to the alleged conspiracy.
