The Africa Forward Summit 2026 is set to take place in Nairobi, bringing together some of the world’s most influential political and economic leaders for a high-level diplomatic and investment forum focused on Africa’s future development agenda.

The summit will be hosted on 11–12 May 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), one of Kenya’s most prominent international conference venues located in the heart of the capital city, Nairobi.

Kenya is co-hosting the event alongside France, marking a significant moment in Africa–Europe relations and reinforcing Nairobi’s growing role as a diplomatic and economic hub on the continent.

The summit is expected to convene more than 30 Heads of State and Government from across Africa, alongside global partners from international financial institutions, development agencies, and the private sector.

Among the high-profile leaders expected to attend is French President Emmanuel Macron, who will participate as co-chair of the summit, reflecting France’s renewed engagement strategy with Africa.

Also expected to feature prominently in the summit are African leaders such as Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix Tshisekedi, who represents one of the continent’s largest and most resource-rich nations.

Rwandan President Paul Kagame is also among the anticipated attendees, continuing his active participation in regional and continental development and governance discussions.

The summit is structured as a two-day engagement, beginning with a business and innovation forum that will bring together investors, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to explore new opportunities across African markets.

This business forum will be held in Nairobi and is expected to attract more than 1,500 private sector leaders, focusing on areas such as technology, energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and finance.

The second day will be dedicated to the Heads of State summit at KICC, where leaders will engage in closed-door and plenary discussions on strategic continental and global issues.

Key themes of the summit include digital transformation, artificial intelligence, energy transition, sustainable agriculture, and strengthening Africa’s position in global financial systems.

Security, peacebuilding, and regional stability are also expected to feature prominently, given ongoing conflicts and geopolitical tensions in parts of the continent.

Organisers have described the Africa Forward Summit as a “delivery-focused” platform, aimed at moving beyond dialogue to concrete agreements, investments, and implementation frameworks.

The event is also expected to produce a joint communiqué, often referred to as the “Nairobi Declaration,” which will outline shared commitments between African states and international partners.

For Kenya, hosting the summit represents a significant diplomatic milestone under the administration of President William Ruto, reinforcing the country’s positioning as a gateway for international engagement in East Africa.

With its combination of political heavyweights, global investors, and policy leaders, the Africa Forward Summit is expected to be one of the most consequential gatherings of 2026 on African soil.
