Mbappé Insists €55M PSG Dispute Is ‘Labor Law, Not Revenge’

Kylian Mbappé has spoken publicly about his €55 million dispute with former club Paris Saint-Germain, stressing that his legal action is based purely on employment rights and not personal animosity.
The Real Madrid star confirmed that PSG still owe him around €55 million in unpaid salary and bonuses. “I signed a work contract at PSG,” Mbappé explained. “I have nothing against them, I just wanted to be normally paid. I love the club and I have friends there. It’s my right, it’s labor law.”
The France captain acknowledged that the formal legal process may have created the impression of hostility towards his former employers but insisted it was the only avenue to recover what he is owed. “Due to the legal procedure, it gave the impression that I wanted to harm PSG, but it’s the only way to recover what I’m owed,” he said.
Mbappé first filed a claim with the French league and UEFA last year, before escalating matters in April 2025 by freezing €55 million of PSG’s accounts. PSG, for their part, have launched a counterclaim of €98 million, accusing the forward of damaging the club’s reputation and delaying repayment through legal maneuvers.
The case is ongoing in labor court, with the outcome yet to be decided. While Mbappé has dropped a separate criminal complaint for “moral harassment” against PSG, the financial dispute remains unresolved and continues to cast a shadow over his otherwise successful transition to Real Madrid.
