Mathare United Humble AFC Leopards 4–1 in Stunning League Upset

Mathare United produced a stunning second-half comeback to thrash AFC Leopards 4–1 in an entertaining FKF Premier League clash played in Nairobi on Saturday.
The match began as a tightly contested affair with both sides showing attacking intent but struggling to break down each other’s defence during the opening stages. Midfield battles dominated much of the first half as chances remained limited.
Leopards looked the more dangerous side early on and managed to create several opportunities, forcing Mathare’s defence to remain alert. However, neither team managed to find the breakthrough before halftime.
The deadlock was finally broken in the second half when Leopards grabbed the opening goal, briefly taking control of the match and putting Mathare under pressure as they searched for a response.
Mathare United quickly regrouped and began to push forward with greater urgency, increasing the tempo and committing more players into attack as the match moved into its final stages.
Their persistence paid off when Mathare found the equaliser, a goal that shifted the momentum of the match and energized both the players and the supporters in the stands.
The Slum Boys then turned the game on its head with a second goal moments later, completing a rapid turnaround that left Leopards scrambling to reorganise their defence.
Mathare continued to dominate the closing minutes and added a third goal before sealing the emphatic victory with a fourth strike late in stoppage time.
The result marked one of Mathare United’s most impressive performances of the season while dealing a heavy blow to AFC Leopards’ league ambitions as the campaign intensifies.
