Tusker head coach, Robert Matano, has spoken with confidence ahead of the new Kenyan Premier League season after signing in seven new players.

Speaking while unveiling the players at the Ruaraka grounds on Wednesday, Matano said he believes he will start the season on a high note defending their title after boosting his workforce.

“We have strengthened all the departments in the team. The players joining us have been meticulously picked to help us defend our title successfully,” Matano said.

Matano also admitted they are under pressure to replicate their good form from the two preceding seasons, where they won back-to-back Kenyan Premier League titles.

“It’s normal for people to expect a lot from us after we successfully defended our title last season,” Matano said.

“Our opponents are equally busy recruiting new players, so we expect a cut-throat competition in the new season.”

Matano however regretted that their last two consecutive campaigns got off to a slow start, and has promised to rectify the disturbing pattern insisting he is impressed with the progress of his team in training so far.
