Manchester United held their nerve to claim a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in a dramatic Premier League encounter at Old Trafford on Saturday night. The match was packed with red cards, goals, and late tension as both sides battled fiercely for three points.
The game began in explosive fashion when Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez was sent off in the fifth minute for a professional foul as the last man. United immediately pressed their advantage, and Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring in the 14th minute to put the hosts ahead. Casemiro then doubled United’s lead in the 37th minute after connecting with Harry Maguire’s assist, sending the home fans into raptures.
The first half, however, ended on a chaotic note as Casemiro, who had already been on the scoresheet, was dismissed in added time for a reckless foul, leaving both teams with 10 men. Despite the numerical setback, United appeared in control for much of the second half. Chelsea pushed forward, and Trevoh Chalobah provided a lifeline in the 80th minute, heading in from a Reece James assist to make it 2-1.
United had to withstand late pressure as seven minutes of stoppage time were played, but they held firm to secure the win. Chalobah’s efforts earned him the Player of the Match, but it was United who celebrated an important victory in front of their home crowd.
