Manchester United have reached a verbal agreement with Turkish club Trabzonspor for the season-long loan of goalkeeper André Onana. The move, however, still requires the approval of the player before it can be finalized.
Onana has struggled for game time under new manager Rúben Amorim, who has preferred Altay Bayindir as his first-choice goalkeeper. The Cameroonian’s only appearance this season came in the Carabao Cup defeat to League Two side Grimsby, where his errors were highlighted as costly.
The situation has been compounded by the arrival of Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp, adding further competition to an already crowded goalkeeping department at Old Trafford alongside Bayindir and veteran Tom Heaton.
The Turkish transfer window remains open until September 12, giving Trabzonspor and United time to complete the deal. Should Onana agree to the switch, he will be looking to revive his career in Turkey after a difficult spell in Manchester
